This free, official Fiesta event features Mariachi bands and Folklorico dancers from local schools and colleges. The event is 3-days long, April 24-26. This is the perfect time to sit outside, sip a margarita, as if you needed an excuse, and enjoy the music as it floats by. Barges randomly stop and play, and each group wears the traditional mariachi costume.
This festival provides student musicians an opportunity to gain experience entertaining large crowds and also boosts the festive atmosphere for Fiesta revelers.
On April 24th, the first night of the Mariachi Festival Kickoff, the association will present their River Walk Royalty at a ticketed coronation ceremony. Royalty participates in year-long association events and parades and serves as the official ambassadors of the San Antonio River Walk Association, a nonprofit, membership-based organization dedicated to promote, protect, and preserve the San Antonio River Walk.
