Turn Your Home Into an Art Studio with These Kid-Friendly Crafts

Looking for new ways to keep the kids entertained during quarantine? If you’ve exhausted your usual list of kid-friendly movies, books, and board games, it’s time to turn to a different option: DIY projects! Here are three fun, kid-approved crafts you can make as a family. Best of all, they are each budget-friendly and largely rely upon common household items!

Magnetic Tic Tac Toe

You will need:

• Cardboard
• Magnets
• Glue gun
• Marker
• A large magnetic surface (like your fridge)

Instructions:

Cut circles out of cardboard. You need 10 of them. Then, using marker draw five Xs and five Os. Flip the cardboard circles over and, using hot glue, attach the magnet pieces. To play Tic Tac Toe, use a dry-erase marker to draw a big hashtag sign on the fridge and let the fun begin.

Glitter Playdough

You will need:

• 1 cup plain flour
• 1/2 cup salt
• 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
• 1 cup boiling water
• 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil
• Food coloring of your choice
• 1 tube of colored glitter

Instructions:

Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Combine oil and water, and slowly pour into dry ingredients. Mix until the dough comes together. Add coloring and glitter and knead. Refrigerate until cool or break into small balls and play with immediately.
